Digital Marketing Trends for 2022

New Year and January are the times of the year when we wonder what the future holds for us. We often check what directions trendsetters are predicting. On this occasion, we also looked at this issue and chose digital marketing trends for 2022 that we agree with.

The last weeks of December were a great time to sum up the past year and provoked a discussion about what the next year might bring. Together, we looked at the announced trends in digital marketing for 2022 (after all, this is the field that interests us the most) and decided to share those that we agree with at 100%. Below you will find our top ten. Their order is completely random ;)

TikTok and video marketing

Everyone involved in digital marketing has probably heard of something like Mobile First. What's more, thanks to 5G technology and better data transmission, video streaming is easier than ever before on smartphones and tablets. This is conducive to the popularity and development of applications such as TikTok. Not only can you record a video at any time without any obstacles, but you can also share the recording with friends (and others) without much difficulty.

There is huge potential here. We are at a time when audiences are most eager to consume video content. That is why video marketing is included in our subjective review of “Digital Marketing Trends for 2022”. If you are not currently using the potential of video, you should definitely consider adding this point to your strategy!

Influencer Marketing

Someone might say that working with influencers is nothing new. Of course, they would be right. It is estimated that influencer marketing reached a value of around $13.8 billion in 2021 and is still growing. Despite the controversy and greater consumer awareness, this area of marketing still works well. This is probably due to the fact that well-prepared influencer campaigns provide context and give value to the advertised product or service. There is one condition: the influencer should identify with the product. Otherwise, this may happen during Krzysztof Gonciarz's recent campaign with Amazon.

Privacy Policy

Currently, paid ads such as Facebook Ads or Google Ads face a huge challenge. This is because one of the trends is currently the increased concern for protecting privacy, and thus user data. The new privacy policy on Apple devices and the cookie policy significantly reduce the amount of data used by algorithms.

More strategic thinking

Automation, the development of artificial intelligence and machine learning contribute to reducing the possibility of "manual" control of activities in the area of digital marketing. What can we do?

It’s worth becoming more strategic. The possibilities of choosing the right strategy and tactics are constantly growing – but it’s worth approaching actions consciously, based on research and data. As digital marketing specialists, we should all think strategically and focus on what drives the development of our brands.

LinkedIn's popularity is on the rise

As 2021 has shown, LinkedIn has had its moment and is a rising star. If you don't believe it, it's worth taking a look at their results from the last few quarters. They show significant growth in monthly active users and engagement on the platform.

If you're not on LinkedIn yet, 2022 is the year to get involved.

More user experience, less SEO

SEO is one of the oldest activities that can be used in the field of digital marketing. However, search algorithms are becoming increasingly intelligent and more contextual. The changes introduced by corporations such as Google can surprise even the most experienced and turn search results upside down. According to the latest trend, it is time to change our thinking. We should pay less attention to the current SEO "tricks" and focus more on designing appropriate user experiences. It is time to improve user experience.

Experience as a New Social Currency

Companies compete with each other to attract the attention of the community. However, the advertising landscape is becoming louder and louder every year, and it is increasingly difficult to break through the noise with traditional methods. Word of mouth marketing, or the so-called grapevine, and social media are still helpful tools in breaking through. However, consumers are becoming more demanding, and the competition is not sleeping. That is why it is worth refocusing on designing desirable and valuable experiences at every stage of the customer's interaction with the brand and analyzing the information obtained from social media.

Website speed

I mentioned Mobile First today. Web traffic is overwhelmingly mobile. Surprisingly, most sites are still not fully optimized for mobile devices. Page speed will become even more important in the coming months. This is all due to the development of Google's Core Web Vitals.

Are you sure your site is optimized? If not, it's high time to take care of it!

In the realm of algorithms

Social media, paid ads, SEO, and even emails – a large piece of the pie known to us as digital marketing is based on the work of algorithms. They all optimize for the same basic thing – user experience. Therefore, in order to effectively deliver the message, we should focus on delivering the desired experience to users. Otherwise, the content we prepare may be less visible.

Less is more

We live in a time of countless possibilities. Also in terms of digital marketing activities. This ends with many companies trying to grab too many magpies by the tail. They "throw themselves" on a large number of channels instead of choosing those that can give them a real advantage, in accordance with the trend of strategic thinking. Here, once again, the principle of "less is more" is proven and becomes another trend in digital marketing for 2022.

In the New Year, let's be more focused and try to do fewer things, but better and more effectively!

Digital marketing trends for 2022 are an incredibly fascinating topic and I certainly haven't exhausted the topic in the above list. Let us know what you agree with and what you don't? Or maybe there are some trends that you consider important but haven't been mentioned?
