You don't have a budget for Facebook ad campaigns, but you see those nice formats in sponsored ads that encourage you to click through to the site or take another action? Facebook allows you to use these formats in a free option. You just have to do a little experimenting. How? Read below.
Don't have a company manager? Get one.
It will take you no more than 5 minutes. How to do it and what is it useful for? I describe it in the article Facebook Ads Manager – Introduction.
And once you've done that, go to create a campaign. If you're doing it from the Facebook home page, I've attached screenshots of the whole process.
Select your ad account and campaign objective
Expand the menu in the upper right corner and click "Ad Management."
Once the next view loads, select the ad account you want to use.
Then click "Create". Choose an advertising objective, name your campaign so that you can easily find it in the list later, and click "continue". Which objective should you choose? It depends on what you want to achieve. If traffic to your website, choose the "Traffic" objective. If you want to direct recipients to contact you via Messenger, choose "Messages" or "Traffic" (there is an option to choose Messenger).
Then you can go straight to creating an ad creative. Skip creating an audience, placement, and budget. Don't worry, you won't spend a penny on this ad ;)
Are you already in the “ADVERTISEMENTS” window? Good.
Create an advertising creative
Now it's time to get creative. If you know how to do that, skip this tip and move on to the next step.
- First, you need to select the fanpage where you want to publish your content.
- Then you choose the ad format (for the “Movement” target it can be a carousel, video/image or collection).
- You add photos/picture/video (depending on the selected format).
- You fill in the “body text” and “headline”. In the header, try to write a good and eye-catching CTA – I suggest using symbols that will catch the recipient’s attention (but not too much 😉 ).
- Enter the URL that will take you where you want 🙂
- And select the call to action. And at the very end, click the green button “Confirm.
Deactivate the campaign and publish the post
Now you should be on the main screen of the ad manager. Find the campaign you just prepared in the list and deactivate it.
Then click on the menu in the upper left corner and find “Page Posts.”
Select the target fanpage, click on the subcategory “Posts with ads”. Then select the post, click “Actions” and publish it immediately or schedule it.
And voila! You have an advertising format on your fanpage without paying anything for it :)
Summary
Remember that the key factor is to deactivate the campaign. If you don't do it, Facebook, after accepting it, will start displaying it according to the schedule. Double check it ;)
PS You can only post on Facebook (Instagram, Stories, Marketplace are not available in this trick) 🙂
