The second half of November is slowly approaching, and with it Black Friday, a day of crazy sales. At first, this tradition appeared in the United States, in the mid-20th century, as the day to start the Christmas shopping season. Since then, it has spread all over the world, and Black Friday has become a day when all companies fight to offer their customers the best promotions and discounts.
Recently, Black Friday has also been joined by Cyber Monday, dedicated to strictly digital products. Today we will tell you a little about how you can use Black Friday to promote your products and services.
Create your own Black Friday promotion
Let's start with the most obvious - promotion! Every year on Black Friday all brands compete to come up with the best, the biggest and the like. The truth is that it doesn't make much difference - discounts are everywhere, and this drives demand. Many people start to hold off on shopping a month in advance, knowing that they will soon be able to do it cheaper. When Black Friday comes, whether the discount is 70% or 60%, it doesn't make much difference.
It is worth considering what promotion will be best for us and our business model. Of course, we do not recommend doing scams such as raising the price just before Black Friday, only to "lower" it later - apart from the fact that it is highly unethical, and if it comes to light, it may be a strong blow to the good name of our brand.
However, it is worth considering ideas such as "multi-packs" or promotions that increase with each subsequent purchase (the second item 30% cheaper, the third 60%, the fourth for a złoty, etc.). This can be much better for your business than a simple discount on all products.
Get your social media ready
When preparing your Black Friday strategy, remember to prepare all your communication channels well – not only your website, but also social media. And we are not talking about just a post informing about the promotion – prepare a dedicated background photo, profile photo, change the bio (especially on Instagram) and call to action on your Facebook page. It is best to add a series of dedicated posts (especially if the promotion lasts, for example, a week, i.e. the entire Black Week), of which the most important one should be pinned to the top.
Remind us that time is running out
Nothing motivates you to make a purchase like knowing that you have a limited time to make a decision. You've probably come across notifications that a promotion is limited, or promotions that can only be used until the end of the day.
Let's remember to do such things in moderation and ethically - let's not write that a product is running out when it is not. However, Black Friday is the perfect time to use the so-called scarcity marketing. It is worth adding a counter on the website that counts down the time to the end of the promotion, or reminding in our communication that the time to take advantage of the discount is limited.
Remember about hashtags, not only those related to Black Friday
Before you start your social media campaign, it's worth preparing the hashtags you'll be using. Remember that you can use up to 30 hashtags on Instagram - it's best to get as close to that limit as possible each time to maximize the value of the tags.
When thinking about which ones to use, remember that the most popular ones are also full of competition. In addition to typical tags such as #blackfriday, #blackpiatek or #promocja, it is worth considering others that our potential customers may be on. For example, you can go for gifts with tags such as #prezentdlaniej #prezent or even #prezentswiateczny because many people start their Christmas shopping on Black Friday.
Start early
It is not without reason that we are posting this entry now, when there is still some time left until Black Friday :) Do not postpone your preparations, start earlier, think about interesting actions that you can take, prepare for them properly, and everything will surely go great :)
